I'm here

I decided to surprise Shane and Melissa and come to Illinois to see my nephews. The plan was for me to come in 3 weeks and help out for about a week (after the grandparents have their turn) but I couldn't wait. I have prayed and waited to long for this to wait! I will be here just a short time and return as originally planned in 3 weeks.

CONGRATS MELISSA AND SHANE

Melissa gave birth around 2:30am by c-section to two healthy baby boys.

Nathan Adam Rathbun- 5lbs 11ozs 19.0 inches

Andrew Allan Rathbun- 4lbs 7ozs 18.5 inches

I talked to Melissa this morning around 6am and all are doing well. I will put up an update and pictures when I get them.

Happy Birthday Joseph!

Joseph and I enjoyed a dinner out last night without the kids at our favorite seafood restaraut (Thanks to our neighbors Dana and Luke for taking care of Simon and Sarah). Today Joseph opened the presents Simon picked out all by himself and ate a birthday cookie cake. Joseph and Simon went to Kid's Place together to attend a classmates birthday party. What better way to spend your birthday than with 20 other kiddos?

Birthday party fun

no homemade cake this year from Grandma S. but Wal-mart came through!

Sarah had a great time at her party yesterday even though Grandma and Grandpa Schroer could be there since Grandma was sick and Aunt Melissa and Uncle Shane were visibly absent while they anticipate the arrival of the twins (we missed you!).

Sarah and I enjoyed our morning together by going to get her pictures taken. She loved it! She was the only one at the studio with 4 photographers giving her tons of attention. She loves dressing up and was excited to she her "pretty shoes"

I got entirely too many pictures but they were awesome. It was hard to say no!

A trip down memory lane

Joseph's Mom has been cleaning out old storage bins and came across many old newspaper articles of Joseph. She passed them along to us to keep and this is my personal favorites. He won the cutest kid contest at the KY state fair in 1974.
