Full Circle

As Oprah would call it, I had a full circle moment this weekend.

As anyone who will listen to me tell them, I was adopted as an infant and now know my biological family. My birth parents were married for over 25 years but were divorced a few years ago.

Fortunately, for my birth mother, Jane, found love again and her and her new husband, Kenny, were married on this past Saturday in Kansas.

Jane invited me and I was more than happy to be there to share in her new love. It just so happened that her new husband is from Salina, Kansas; about one hour from where she lives and the town I was born in.

I say this is my full circle moment since I was there in Salina, to first and foremost, witness the marriage vows, but also to see the town where I was born. Jane also lived there for most of her pregnancy with me. (Back then, Catholic charities would send young, pregnant women, to live with families until the birth so the secret did not have to be known in their hometown) I got to see the hospital where I was born and drive around see the town itself. I just kept saying, "these are my people!"
Also, on my weekend trip, I got to see my brother David and his family who live in Kansas City.

I couldn't be more proud that I am adopted child because I have the best of both worlds. I have the best birth parents since they did the most unselfish act of love imaginable and my adopted family which gave me two parents we cared for me as if I was their own flesh and blood and gave me a chance to grow up with the greatest brothers and sister. I now have positive relationships with all of them and I couldn't be more blessed.

While it was a very non-traditional Valentines Day since my valentine, Joseph, was left at home with Simon and Sarah, I am thankful I had the opportunity to return to where it all began.

The annual boat show

Sarah's pick

Last year, just Joseph and Simon went to the annual Boat show at Heritage hall but this year the girls went along too. Sarah got wind there would be ponies!!! I am sure they hate us there since we are not in the market to buy a boat.
