A drastic change

So as many of you know, I have been thinking of leaving the research world for the last several months. Like many other fields, the economy has effected research is a large way. With cut backs, pharmaceutical companies are spending less on research along with our federal government.
I thought that it may be a sign that after eight years in this line of nursing, maybe it was time I needed to move on. For many weeks, I combed the job board daily for just the right job change (still within the University, after 14 years there, it would be silly to leave)
I decided to think back to what my goals were when I first graduated. I always wanted to work in the emergency room and decided the ortho/trauma floor would be a good start and after a few years, I would transfer. Instead, I was lured away to research and eight years later...I am going back to the original plan.
Effective April 10th, I am leaving research and going to be a staff nurse in the emergency department. For six months, I will be in an internship program with intense training both in the emergency room and in the classroom. After the training is complete, I will be working three twelve hours shifts per week.
I am excited and nervous at the same time.

A Visit With Andrew and Nathan

up close of Nathan
bathtime for Andrew

I have been enjoying my week at Melissa and Shane's helping out with Andrew and Nathan. They are 6 weeks today and I am the last of the live in help. I have been trying to give Melissa helpful hints to get her ready to do it on her own next week. Today, Melissa did all of the feedings, etc on her own.

It has been so great to get to know my little nephews and their unique personalities.

Andrew: aka billygoat (due to his sounds he makes awake and asleep.) and peanut since he is the smaller of the two. He is content many times to sit on his own.

Nathan: the pumpkin. He looks so much bigger than Andrew even though their weight Check Spellingdifference is only one pound. He wants to be held most of the time and today Melissa started using the Baby Bjorn carrier and he was very happy and so was she. She could walk around the house and get a lot of stuff done.

I am leaving Saturday and I am sad to think about how much they will change before I see them again.

Spring fever

After dropping off the Pilot to the body shop, it was off to the park to enjoy the 70 degree weather today. Simon is going to give t-ball a try this spring and his coach called yesterday and decided to have the teams first practice today since it was so warm.

Sarah enjoyed the swings and slide while Simon practiced.

Sorry about the lack of postings

It has been really busy at the Wethington's over the last couple of weeks. The four of us were involved in a car accident last Thursday. We were rear ended by a teenager on Leestown Road just a couple of miles from our house. Joseph and Simon were sore for a couple of days but we are all ok. It has just been a headache trying to make arrangements to get the Pilot fixed.

Simon has been sick most of the week with a fever. It is the strangest thing. He really has no other symptoms except a lack of appetite. Hopefully this will pass soon.

I am leaving Sunday to spend a week at Melissa and Shane's to help with Nathan and Andrew. They have had non-stop live in help from the time they came home from the hospital. I am the last one to come and after that, they are on their own.

I promise to post lots of baby pictures next week.
